I'm honored to have written about Montgomery, Alabama's The Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice as part of Thrillist's overall 2019 Best New Attractions Worth Traveling For. These two new (opened in April 2018) powerful additions to the U.S. cultural landscape were opened by EJI, Equal Justice Initiative, which works for racial and class justice especially within the realm of the legal system and has contributed to a good portion of the 2,373 United States death row exonerations since since 1989. Though considering such heavy (and necessary) material an "attraction" may not be the best use of words in this case, I hope people make it a point to visit Montgomery where so much has happened and so much is happening that is horrifically unjust and so many things have and are happening that are more inspiring than I can measure.
